Golf Championships

For the past week Narromine have been playing their championships. This is played over four rounds of 18 holes on two Tuesdays and two Wednesdays. I am a pretty average golfer but on the first Tuesday I had the round of my life playing 11 under my handicap(84) which was 26. I lost 5 shots to bring me back to 21 handicap. The next day I played 1 below my new handicap (89)much to my amazement.
I was leading the handicap. Yesterday I did it again playing right to my handicap (90)and today was the final round and I managed to hold it all together to play 1 over my handicap(91). I won the A grade handicap event. Our golf course is all taken care of by volunteers, so we are really lucky to have it in such great condition. As you can see we don't have grass greens, we putt on a mixture of fine sand mixed with oil. We have to smooth out the sand with a special rake everytime we putt.

Trip to Cottage on the Hill

On the weekend five of us visited Kerry Swain at the Cottage on the Hill for our annual retreat. The journey was great (4.5 hours)a big thankyou to Peg for driving, the accomodation was fantastic, the scenery is majestic, the town of Nundle is quaint and the patchwork shop divine. This is what I made, double wedding ring with Swanky fabric. Can't wait to finish it.Thanks to Kerry for making it all so special.

This is how far I have progressed with the shaggy quilt for my daughter in law. I need to cut the edges and wash and dry it.

Road Trip to Cobar

On the 8th August Carol organised a trip to Cobar which is approx 250 kilometers west of Narromine. The Cobar Quilt Shop is well worth a visit with a huge range of fabrics in stock. I thought I could use this ruler as I have been wanting to make a quilt using diamond shapes.
My daughter in law has requested a shaggy quilt. The fabric is Cosmic cricket, I hope she likes it.

This range is Cider Mill Road by Nancy Halverson, I bought a layer cake.
